Hemp-organic cotton fleece is a better choice than cotton in diaper-making for many reasons:

  • It has anti-microbial, anti-mildew/anti-fungal, and naturally UV-resistant properties.
  • Hemp breathes well and wicks moisture away from the body better than cotton.
  • Hemp is also 4 times warmer, 4 times more water-absorbent, and has 3 times the tensile strength of cotton.

In addition, hemp-derived products are nontoxic, biodegradable, and renewable! (Hemp also readily takes on eco-safe plant-based dyes.)

More about hemp:
Hemp grows without the need of harmful herbicides and pesticides due to the inherent properties of the plant itself. Therefore hemp is commonly used as a companion crop bordering family gardens as a deterrent to insects and infestations. It is generally grown in areas of low water availability as, unlike other natural fibers, the plant does not require irrigation. The unique characteristics of hemp fiber give it the additional ability to suppress the growth of harmful bacteria and fungi, making it the ideal “fiber for our future.”
